Hey guys,
Just moved from Philly into Wilmington DE, just had a question regarding the bill for electric and gas. Suppliers is Delmarva power itself, no issue(at least I think) in term of rates per kWh or whatever metric is used to measure gas usage. My question or confusion is, why am is there a “delivery charge” on my bill? I used $60 dollar of electric and gas COMBINED and the delivery charge is $80. Making the bill $140 and I barely used utility due to move in week. Only lived at the place for 2 nights out of the whole month. Heat is running but it’s set to only 58 Fahrenheit to prevent pipes from busting from the cold. Is this normal? I just can’t wrap my head around how the cost to run utility through the line/pipes is more expensive than my actual usage. And during the first month of purchasing the house, I was never at the property(maybe heat was running but again only around 50 degree in a 40 degree weather) and the bill was still $104. Any insight but would helpful, I know a relative who lives in Clayton DE, same exact provider but no delivery charge.
