Trades Professionals

Hi everyone,

I’m not in the trades myself, but I’ve been thinking a lot about how to help people explore careers in skilled trades without committing to long programs right away.

Here’s the idea: A platform where people can book a 1-day immersive experience to “try a trade” like plumbing, carpentry, or baking, ect (I understand that any trade/career would needs months or even years to get the feeling of it). They’d pay a fee to shadow a Professionals tradesperson for the day, and the tradesperson would get most of the money.

The goal is to:

  • Help people test the waters before they commit to a trade school or apprenticeship.
  • Give tradespeople a way to earn extra cash by sharing their skills during downtime for example.

I’m coming to you because I want to hear your perspective as experts in the industry.

  1. Would you be open to letting someone shadow you for a day if they paid you $150–$250?
  2. What concerns or challenges do you see with this idea?
  3. Do you think this could help bring more people into the trades?

I’d love to hear any thoughts — even if you think it’s a bad idea. I really value your time and input. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!
